Guest Speaker: Make Your IEP the Best It Can Be
We have had many requests to bring back a guest speaker that we had in April. Heidi Friedman is a Special Education Advocate with three sons on the Autism Spectrum. When Heidi learned that her sons had special needs, she updated her former career as an attorney into collaborating as an advocate. She knows the IEP process first hand, having helped hundreds of families over the years.
On October 12th, bring your child(s) IEPs to the PHP Autism Support Group. Heidi will walk you through how to draft a better IEP by making goals measurable, discussing possible and reasonable services, and looking at what accommodations are available for school and formalized testing.
Please RSVP for this event so we know how many people to accommodate. Sorry childcare is not available.
Kat started her journey with autism 10 years ago when she and her husband received their son’s diagnosis. She didn’t know anyone with a child that had autism and PHP’s Autism Support Group was a lifeline for her. She recently started a blog (www.StrivingMamas.com) to share her experience with other moms that have kids with autism. She is looking forward to meeting everyone at the meetings!
